Northern Regional Chairman of New Patriotic Party, Daniel Bugri Naabu

Outspoken Northern Regional Chairman of New Patriotic Party (NPP), Daniel Bugri Naabu has directed all appointees in the region especially Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to notify him before awarding contracts.

“It is automatic that I should know. I should be in the know before the contract is awarded. If it is at the regional tender board, the Regional Minister will have to have to consult me and tell me that these are jobs we want to award and this is the kind of line action we are doing”, he revealed on Radio Tamale.

He disclosed that without him there is no government reinforcing the point that he is doing so in order not to drag the name of the government into the mud reiterating that the party must work hand-in-hand with the party.

“The party won the government… the government cannot be working alone with the party”. He enforced.

Mr Bugri Naabu who sanctioned the chasing away of ‘NDC’ contractor maintained that members of the party suffered for its victory and must, therefore, be rewarded by being given jobs.

“I sanctioned it. The guy who awarded the contract to them, where is their award letter…when our own people have no jobs, NDC people are working all over the place in the region”, he alleged on Accra-based Starr Fm.

It would be recalled that angry party NPP youth on Tuesday chased away workers of a local construction firm contracted to build a storm drain following annual perennial flooding in the area.

But the angry youth mostly members of the NPP vigilante groups stormed the scene and chased away the contractor accusing the Municipal Chief Executive, Mariam Iddrisu, of awarding the contract to an NDC contractor when members of her party are also capable of executing the job.
